I get my best ideas in the bathtub.
In fact, I had a brilliant one this evening.
Alas, sometimes my brilliance doesn’t seem so brilliant once I’m dry but this epiphany was pretty good, I gotta say.
Then again, the night is young and I’m still a little damp so it could go either way.
It’s not always in the tub, either. The shower is also fertile ground for writing ideas. I once concocted an entire children’s story during one marathon shower session. I think I actually washed away the top layer of my skin which is what happens when you go through an entire jar of sugar scrub in one sitting. Just in case you don’t know, this layer is called the epidermis which is “the outermost layer of the skin composed of terminally differentiated stratified squamous epithelium acting as the body’s major barrier against an inhospitable environment”. Even that little comfort strip on my disposable razor was worn down to the nub. I couldn’t wear pants for a week.
Being the naturally curious sort that I am, I did some research on negative ions (and also what the top layer of human skin is called – see above).
Negative ions are, as you might suspect, desirable which is weird because the word “negative” in their name doesn’t denote something desirable in my opinion. “They are found in places like the beach, in the country or near waterfalls and many other places where people like to be.”
I like to be in the bathtub.
